This is a fascinating paper using _in vivo_ DRG calcium imaging to interrogate the ensemble activity of DRG neurons in naive and pathological conditions. This is an exemplar of what emerging and powerful techniques such as two-photon calcium imaging can offer. The functional coupling of DRG neurons to each other via SGCs opens many new questions and offers a new avenue for therapeutics.
