Let’s start a ‘Best of’ series for different kinds of pain investigations. My goal here is to identify really good examples of different types of papers. Some categories or types to get us going:

- Neuroanatomical characterization papers (DRG/SC/Brain IHC, viral tracing, ISH, histology)
- Pain circuit dissection
- Intracellular signaling in pain-related cells
- Gene implication studies (Knockout/Knockin/Mutation)
- Behavioral method papers
- Neurodevelopment pain papers
- Role of immune or glial cells in pain pathology
- _In vitro_ electrophysiology (DRG, Spinal Cord, Brain)
- _In vivo_ electrophysiology
- Pain model development

Post a paper and say why you think it’s exemplary. My hope is that if we get a good list here, we can have a resource for trainees and others to learn from. Also, it’s always good, no matter where you are in your career, to emulate or model your own work on beautiful and outstanding papers from the past.
