Preparation of Acute Brain Slices Using an Optimized N-Methyl-D-glucamine

This excellent video from the Allen Institute has a lot of useful information and procedures. Many people like the NMDG method for brain slices, but the original protocol was not optimal for young animals, as are frequently used in spinal cord slice studies. However, the new protocol here with Na+ spike-in circumvents this limitation, making this protocol suitable for young animals as well.
