DEPARTMENT OF PHARMACOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW
A Postdoctoral Research Associate position is available in the Department of Pharmacology and Neuroscience at TTUHSC, Lubbock, TX for a highly-motivated scientist to study mechanisms of neuroplasticity in pain and related neuropsychiatric disorders.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. (in an area relevant to the project) and/or M.D. degree, and will be expected to contribute actively and effectively to ongoing neuroscience research programs centered on limbic brain functions and dysfunctions with the opportunity to develop their own project. Documented expertise in electrophysiology and/or optical imaging/recording techniques is required and experience with behavioral assays is expected. First author publications in peer reviewed journals and knowledge of the neuroscience literature are required. Strong writing and communication skills and an ability to work independently are essential.
The selected candidate will join a growing research program focused on systems, synaptic and cellular mechanisms of maladaptive brain plasticity in pain and related neuropsychiatric disorders such as alcohol abuse disorders and epilepsy. The postdoctoral position provides an exciting opportunity for interdisciplinary collaborations and multidisciplinary training using a variety of electrophysiological techniques, multiphoton imaging, optogenetics, gene transfer strategies, and behavioral assays. Effective mentoring provides an excellent work environment.
